SEYMOUR OSMAN COMMUNITY CENTER (SOCC)
Located in the heart of the Mineral and Whittier Park community, the Seymour Osman Community Center (SOCC) serves as a haven for the neighborhood's children. Equipped with a gymnasium, four classrooms and a kitchen, the center flourishes with youth-oriented activities. It has also become the primary source of crime prevention in the area, as partnerships with the Dover Police Department, the NH National Guard and the Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation have established a comprehensive drug prevention initiative. With the support of a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, the SOCC has extended its outreach to Woodman Park School, where it operates daily afterschool programs similar to those offered at the Community Center. Grants from the Comcast Foundation and Verizon Foundation have bolstered literacy programs at both sites
