Fiddlehead Farms supports after school programming
DOVER, NH - Jennie Halstead, Business Manager at Fiddlehead Farms, presented a check to the Seymour Osman Community Center and Youth Safe Haven for $1,802 last Friday. For the second year in a row Fiddlehead Farms operated a holiday fundraiser to support after school programming held at the Seymour Osman Community Center (SOCC) and Woodman Park School.
This fall, the children enrolled in SOCC afterschool programming made ornaments to decorate a holiday tree at Fiddlehead's. Upon exiting the store, customers were invited to sponsor a child's ornament and place it on the tree.
Again this year, the generosity of Fiddlehead Farms and their customers will help cover the cost of staff and materials for enrichment activities at the SOCC. The money raised will keep program fees minimal for parents who need a safe place for their kids to spend the afternoon hours while they work.
The Seymour Osman Community Center and Youth Safe Haven is a private non-profit organization affiliated with the Dover Housing Authority. Its primary focus is providing quality afterschool programming to Dover youth. The SOCC currently serves more than 140 children, most of whom are from the surrounding Mineral and Whittier Parks neighborhoods. While at the SOCC, youth receive age-appropriate academic and life skills support designed to lead them toward success. |
