Students will create a short animated film that will premiere in December. Participants of all talents and skill level will have the opportunity to write a story, create characters, record voiceovers and sound effects, and edit footage.
La Casa Nuestra is a program designed for 5-8th graders to introduce them to basic Spanish phrases and vocabulary in addition to learning about the different cultures of Spain and Latin America. The focus of this program is Spanish crafts and cooking, which will enable the children to learn about a particular culture with hands-on activities.
Youth will play an outdoor team sport each week, practicing sportsmanship and team work.
Build It uses hands on activities to demonstrate various engineering/science concepts to 2nd and 3rd Graders.
Students will use recycled materials (plastics, packing materials, cans, etc.) to create interesting art pieces such as sculptures, masks, mosaics, and a giant “Recycling Monster!”
The students will engage in activities surrounding the world of literacy. This program will include reading, crafts, and a little taste testing.
Children will create new and exciting crafts each week to display at the “Lights on After School” event and to share with family.
The program will focus on rhythm, both inside and outside the context of music, and how it is displayed in cultures around the world.
The children will explore the world of dance, working toward a final performance to share with family and friends.
Wonderful World of Sports
Each week, the kids will learn the rules and regulations of a new sport or gym game. The goal is to learn sportsmanship and team work.
Our girls will learn self motivation, positive body image, and self esteem from running. Girls will also prepare for a 5K road race in November.
The children will experiment with various art media, eventually showing their pieces in an art show at the end of the program.
Spy Games, Secrets Messages & Codes
Students will learn basic code writing, lettering, and paper folding techniques used by 3rd and 4th grade spies around the World!
Students will participate in exciting community service activities to meet needs that they identify in their school and neighborhoods.
Children will stretch their creative muscles as they learn scrapbooking techniques and work to create a scrapbook with pictures of their school, family, and friends.
Our boys will work together to learn team work and positive attitudes through running and team building activities.
In this elementary gymnastic program, children will learn stretches, basic safety, and tumbling techniques.
Students in this program use a global positioning satellite (GPS) unit to track down a cache—a box of trinkets—hidden at a nearby locale. Clues and coordinates are given on a Web site that coordinates a global game of geocaching. When they find a cache, the group signs a log and leaves behind items to replace what they take.
Students in this program will learn yoga breathing, basic yoga poses and relaxation techniques. The program stresses the importance in accepting that everyone has differing abilities, but that skills can be enhanced through practice. |
